SSS Edinburgh Report
The final SSS Grand Prix of 2015 proved a successful one for EURC. Just two weeks after Aberdeen, EURC continued their winning start to the 2015/16 SSS season, in the process winning the Edinburgh leg of the Grand Prix series for the first time in 4 years.
EURC once again swept the board, taking 1st place across all the team categories. The Team of 8 comfortably took 1st place by a margin of almost 20 points. The Team of 4 and Ladies Triad faced stiffer competition but still managed to finish up victorious.
Edinburgh’s performances were of an equally high standard in the individual competitions.
Bryony Fraser-Burn was in top form again coming 3rd in A class with Ben Kelly and Rory Macleod following in 4th and 5th place respectively. Ben Kelly and Nikki Sammels seized 2nd in the pairs category, Chris Gray and Rory Macleod in 3rd just one point behind.
B class also saw Edinburgh in amongst the points. Lara Muttiah and Vicky Carter secured 1st and 2nd positions on the results board, while James Gutteridge came 5th. Notably, Lara shot her first perfect score of 100 on her second card despite leaving it to the last second to take her final shot.
Tom Pryce shot well to clinch 5th place in the novice category at his first competition and Holly Bunn continued her promising start to her SSS career to take 4th in the same event.
Former Club President Kim Pope (2013/2014) also shot well in the graduates competition, despite having spent all day taking on the role of scorer for the competition for which the club is very grateful.
With three out of the 5 SSS Grand Prix events now finished, EURC have made a great start to the season and now can look forward to a hopefully successful qualifying campaign for BUCS. Once again, it was encouraging to see so many of our newer members taking part and achieving some success as well as to see our more experienced shooters hitting top form.
